In an example of a real-life 'vault' situation in planning for the coming apocalypse, the Svalbard Seed Vault has been brought online. This facility in Norway is designed to preserve seed samples for a variety of plants/crops for future generations. This would enable it to reproduce current crops from both an apocalyptic event, or the more likely, to much genetic engineering of crops causing something to go wrong.
Well.. in the future.. you gotta eat.. as they say..

We can cook up a full review once either the series or the season completes, but here's a quick first impression of the Webisode series of Lady Wasteland.
Being a webisode, the episode is short, bite-sized even.. weighing in at smidge over 4min. The character style, acting, and writing are pretty solid for an indy/lower budget post-apoc project. I enjoyed the quick-style camera work rather then being shown attempts at effects that end up being cheesy (I think Hollywood in general should get back to the Hitchcock style version of showing implied violence.. but that's a rant for another time...).. The first episode throws you in the middle, gives you a quick 'this is me', and then goes back to story.
Did I enjoy it? Well.. I want more.. :]

You know it, you love it.. and now Amazon.com offers it.. Uranium Ore .
That's right.. Uranium 238 ore, packaged in a nice tin ready to ship to you directly!
Well.. sure... it's just a small quantity designed for testing out your Geiger Counters (you DO have a Geiger counter don't you?!. if not, I'm sure we'll give some away next year..), but still... the idea of buy Uranium 238 online it pretty novel.
